During this reno we also had to remove the 4 granite backsplash from the wall.
Take off granite backsplash.
Removing the granite backsplash since you ve already managed to remove the caulking set aside the utility knife for now and get the putty knife.
This past weekend we started on our kitchen backsplash project.
Step 5 pull the putty knife out and reinsert it at the top edge of the backsplash between the wall.
Start gently prying away the backsplash from the wall.
A little joint compound will repair any damage well enough for tiling.
Slide the blade of a stiff putty knife between the seam of the granite back splash and the wall on the open end of the back splash.
I was very nervous at first because this was new to me but it was much easier than i thought.
So today i want to share.
How to remove granite backsplash easily.
Carefully slide the blade of your putty knife in between the seam where the granite backsplash meets the wall that it s covering.
Tap the handle of the putty knife with a hammer to begin separating the back splash from the wall.
If necessary use your hammer to help tap the crowbar farther in between tile and wall.
Push the crowbar in behind one of the tiles beside the opening left by a removed tile.
Just to make a note i was only removing the backsplash to put new backsplash up.
It is easy it is only caulked in place and if you plan to tile the wall with anything except glass tiles any damage to drywall shouldn t be a problem.
