With little to no effort all of that grime on our luxury vinyl tile wiped up in no time with nail polish remover. Be gentle and take your time. Wipe over the surface of the vinyl where the glue is. Dampen a cotton cloth with a small amount of acetone based nail polish remover.

Occasionally you may need to wipe away construction adhesive or separate two objects bonded with it such as two boards two bricks etc. If you re using a steel butter knife remember to wrap it in your clean thick rag before you use it on your floor. Rub it with a clean dry cloth until you see the glue coming off and then wash the plastic item. The best adhesive removers use citric acid.

Keep the edge of your scraper even with the floor to prevent scratches. If you were to immerse a pvc pipe or your vinyl flooring in either solvent it would eventually dissolve. If there is a lot of glue then you may wish to push the glue towards a plastic card and lift it away before rubbing the flooring with the cloth. Both solvents are extremely volatile and evaporate long before any significant damage occurs but they permanently change the character of the plastic surface and the discoloration caused by the dye becomes part of the change.

Simply take a piece of dry cloth or a new sponge and make it slightly damp. Gently dab at the spot of glue with your cloth until the glue.
