The trick is getting the tape to release from the vinyl without putting so much stress on the vinyl that it weakens the newly formed bond between the adhesive and the substrate.

Doing a wet application is easy and will prevent any bubbles that might occur during a dry application. This can especially be a problem in installing reflective vinyl. Then use a towel and a hot iron to heat and flatten the vinyl. Check out our large selection of vinyl here.

Luckily it is easy to smooth out the bubbles. For small bubbles an inch or less in diameter use a large needle to prick the bubble allowing the trapped air to escape. Bubbles in a vinyl decal are an eyesore. We frequently get questions about preventing bubbles when installing vinyl on smooth flat surfaces.

Use a stack of books to weight it down until it rebonds. In most cases squeegeeing the vinyl at a 45 degree angle with overlapping firm strokes will rid the vinyl of most of the bubbles and prevent wrinkles. If the vinyl doesn t stick properly to an area where you removed a small bubble fill a small syringe with glue and insert the tip into the puncture hole from the sewing needle. The decals have one adhesive side that is pressed against a flat surface.

People apply vinyl decals such as racing stripes and flames on cars and use them for home decor scrapbooking and laptop decorations. Don t be concerned about pressing too hard.
